Historic Staunton River Foundation Participates in Crossing of the Dan

RANDOLPH – The Historic Staunton River Foundation, Inc. recently participated in the wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 239th Commemoration of the Crossing of the Dan held at The Prizery and Constitution Square in South Boston, Virginia on Saturday, February 15, 2019.  More than twenty hereditary organizations throughout the Commonwealth and Nation were present to pay tribute to the patriotic event that took place on February 14, 1781.  The Crossing of the Dan has been described as a “masterful military maneuver” that would mark the beginning of the defeat of the British by the American Patriots.  

The Historic Staunton River Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion, development, and preservation of the Staunton River Battlefield State Park that encompasses not only the history and legacy of the Staunton River, but also local historical sites, such as the Crossing of the Dan.  More information can be obtained by visiting:
