Highway Dedicated to Vietnam Vets

IMG_0006On Thursday, March 29 a diverse group of veterans, relatives and dignitaries gathered on Route 47 south of Drakes Branch, Virginia to witness the dedication of a portion of the highway to Veterans of the Vietnam War. In attendance were Senator Frank Ruff, Delegate James Edmunds, and Charlotte County Administrator R.B. Clark.

Specifically mentioned in the dedication were the Charlotte County natives who gave their lives in service to their county during the conflict: Gordon P. Young, Army, Drakes Branch; James C. Dickerson, Navy, Randolph; Mac Arthur Gee, Army, Charlotte Court House; Samuel B. Hubbard, Marines, Red House; Wilbert J. Jones, Jr., Army, Keysville; Roy D. Lowe, Army, Charlotte Court House; and Leroy A. Whitlow, Army, Charlotte Court House.

Coordinator of the dedication was County Supervisor and veteran Garland H. Hamlett, Jr.
