House fire 2 House fire 1KENBRIDGE – A fire in the Kenbridge area on Sunday night has displaced a couple. The fire call came into Kenbridge Fire Department around 10:30 p.m. Kenbridge Fire Department was first on the scene and found the two-story home engulfed with heavy smoke and flames throughout. Victoria Fire and Rescue also responded to provide tankers and assistance.

The farm location had several pets and animals. The occupants as well as all of the animals were able to evacuate the home without injury despite the damage to the home.

It is believed to have been a wood heater or thimble that could have caused the fire, but no official cause has been given at this time. The departments were able to secure the area.

The couple that lived in the home have friends that set up Facebook and online information if anyone would like to help them.

The online information stated, “Nina Davis and her husband Jake Rifkind lost their home to fire. They are in need of donations, mostly monetary, because they have nowhere to store furniture or household items at this time. Dog and cat food, chicken feed, hay or grain would also be wonderful.  They have quite a few mouths to feed on the farm and anything would be appreciated.  Benchmark Bank is setting up an account at this time to donate to and there is a Go Fund Me account as well.”

If you’d like to send a check directly to Ms. Davis and the family the address is 7517 Plank Rd., Kenbridge, Va. 23944
