FARMVILLE – The Farmville Area Kiwanis is focused on improving the community for the benefit of children and with that, the organization is seeking to win $25,000 in playground  equipment for the Grove Street Park Playground Revitalization Project as part of the Legacy of Play Contest.

Grove Street Park was created in 1925 and it is in need of significant improvements so children of all abilities can enjoy the freedom of play.

The club is leading the effort for community funding of new equipment for the playground.

«The Town of Farmville is a beautiful community and is growing beyond the confrontations of history, but the resulting low levels of income and education make efforts like the Grove Street Park Playground Revitalization Project a significant challenge. We recognize the power of collaborating to make meaningful progress,” said Kiwanis officials

“Our club is raising community awareness of the revitalization project by connecting community government, organizations, civic groups, businesses, and individuals. Together we have a greater impact through organized and focused efforts on the goal of improving the health of our children and our community. Currently, the club has just over $5,000 in the Kiwanis Playground Project account. Winning the Legacy of Play contest would assist our club in taking this initiative to the next level,” they said. You can cast your vote to help the Kiwanis by visiting their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kiwanis

The 10 submissions with the highest number of votes by May 27 will become finalists and a panel of judges will select the winning club.
