Drug and Gang Task Force Reports Successful Year

The Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force consisting of narcotics investigators from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office, and the Virginia State Police, presented their year-end statistics to the task force command group on December 8, 2014.  The task force seized $21,081.00 of cocaine, $14,095.00 of processed marijuana, $1,470,000.00 of marijuana plants, $2,200.00 of methamphetamines, and $13,780.00 of pharmaceutical drugs.  With the assistance of the Virginia State Police Clandestine Laboratory Team the task force seized and dismantled one methamphetamine lab.  Task force investigations resulted in 30 executed search warrants, 43 seized firearms, and $2,714.00 in seized currency, two misdemeanor arrests and 123 felony arrests.  The command board members are Sheriff Thomas Jones, Sheriff Arthur Townsend, and a Virginia State Police representative.  The task force encourages anyone with information on the distribution of drugs to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 542-5141, Lunenburg Crime Solvers at (434) 696-3100, or the Virginia State Police Drug Hotline at 1-800-553-DOPE (3673).
