Daniel Lee West

Daniel “Danny” Lee West, age 50, passed away at his home in Farmville, Virginia on November 15, 2014. Danny was diagnosed with cancer in September 2014.

Danny was born to Carl Lee and Wilma “Sue” Loveday West on September 9, 1964 in Farmville, Va. On November 7, 2012, Danny married Amanda “Tess” Ward-West.

Danny attended, and graduated from Prince Edward Academy in 1982. Danny began working as a teenager and eventually formed his own business as a subcontractor. Danny worked hard and played even harder.
Danny spent his entire life in Farmville, and a large portion of it was spent in the woods.  A natural outdoorsman, Danny had a passion for hunting, and stories remembered by friends and family of Danny’s time spent hunting almost rival those of hunting legends. He loved bowling, and played in various pool and softball leagues throughout most of his adult life.

Danny is survived by his wife Tess, and his two sons, Colton West and wife Lillian-Amanda West, of Florence, SC, and Justin West of Farmville, Va. Danny adored his wife and sons, who always knew just how much he loved them.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Grover and Ruth Kissinger of Farmville, Va. and Coye and Lida Loveday of Prospect, Va. Danny’s Grandma Ruth always held a special place in his heart and rarely did a day go by that he did not mention how much he missed her.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home.
