LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony at their newest Convenience Center location at the intersection of Rocky Mill Road and Courthouse Road (along Route 49 toward Chase City).

P--County unveils fifthThe site is the fifth such convenience site that the county has opened and this location will be a manned site. This location officially opens for Lunenburg County residents to use on December 17, 2015. Economic and Community Development Director Beverley Hawthorne stated, “The current dumpster sites at Hoyles Store on Route 49 and near the intersection of Braxton Road and Sheltons Road will remain open through Christmas, but these dumpsters will be removed and those locations closed on January 3, 2016.”

The new location has the same rules and regulations as the previously completed sites, such as no dumping of tires or company construction debris which must be taken directly to the CFS Landfill or other landfill locations.

County officials stated, “We would like to thank all of our employees who work at our sites. We appreciate all of the citizens who follow the rules as this helps make the sites remain nice places to visit, and their cleanliness reflects wonderfully on the County as a whole.”

Mrs. Hawthorne also noted that in addition to this new site, county officials are in the process of looking for property to place two more sites with one east of Route 138, between Brickland Road and St. John’s Road and another along Oral Oaks Road. Anyone that would like to have their property considered for these new sites should call Beverley Hawthorne at 434-696-2546.

The new site will be open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. It will be open on Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and the location will be closed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
