Remains Confirmed as Virginia
Edmonds, Missing Since 2013
LUNENBURG – Sheriff Arthur Townsend and the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Wednesday, January 25 that they had received confirmation from state examiners that the remains found by a hunter in November was 73-year-old Kenbridge woman Virginia Edmonds.
Edmonds went missing on June 28, 2013 and despite finding her car shortly after she was reported missing, the disappearance remained unsolved until November 26, 2016 when a hunter found the remains in the Flat Rock area of Lunenburg.
The discovery was made within walking distance of the area where the car had been found.
Sheriff Townsend released a statement to media outlets stating, “My heart goes out to the Edmonds family after nearly four years of not being able to locate Virginia Edmonds.”
He continued, “I hope that this development brings closure to their difficult loss.”
