mug - SANTIAGOKEYSVILLE – Cooperation between the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and the Victoria Police Department has led to the arrest of man charged with breaking and entering as well as larceny.

On May 13, 2016 the Charlotte County Sheriffs Office was notified by the Keysville Town Office and Church’s’ Garage about an attempted break in at both places.  The Sheriff’s Office investigated and found that someone had attempted to enter the back doors of the two places with a pry bar.  No entrance was made at that time.

On the following day, the Keysville Town Office called again saying that the back door had been broken and someone had taken items from that office.

On May 16, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Investigator M. Landry with the Victoria Police Department about a suspect they were looking at in another crime investigation.  Investigator Landry said the suspect was trying to sell water and sewer bonds from the Town of Keysville.

Charlotte County investigators went to Victoria and met with Investigator Landry, Chief Keith Phillips and several other VPD officers.  Officers made contact with the suspect who was identified as Timothy Santiago near Victoria Fire and Rescue.  Santiago had the bonds in question in his possession at this time.  After interviewing the suspect, he was arrested in Victoria and transported back to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.  After giving a statement Santiago was charged with breaking and entering the Keysville Library and larceny.  Santiago was advised 5-17-16 and is currently being held on a $1500.00 bond.

Further investigation revealed more evidence and Santiago was charged with attempted breaking and entering of the Town Office of Keysville on 5-13-16, and breaking and entering, grand larceny, and destroying property belonging to the Keysville Town Office on 5-14-16.

Timothy Z. Santiago is a 22-year-old who is from the Lunenburg area, according to the Charlotte County Sheriffs Office.
