Charlotte Court House Fire and Rescue has recently been designated as an American Safety & Health Institute first aid and medic training center. This achievement allows them to train and certify students in a number of ASHI and medic first aid programs. The impressive list includes: advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, emergency medical response, advanced first aid, CPR pro, basic first aid, CPR/AED, wilderness first aid, blood borne pathogens, emergency oxygen administration and even child/ babysitting safety and pediatrics.

The ability to teach these programs may well prove to be a boon for Charlotte Court House Fire and Rescue as well as to Charlotte residents and even to the residents of surrounding counties. According to Ray Mason, paramedic and Assistant Fire Chief of CCH Fire and Rescue, “More and more businesses today are being required to certify their employees in varying levels of first aid and life support, particularly loggers and construction workers, to stay OSHA compliant. The opportunity to take these classes in the county would prove convenient for local business owners.”  He added, “We are just trying to get the word out right now.”

Along with Ray, training center instructors include Chris Russell, NREMT-I, and Joelle Cramer, Paramedic. All of the instructors have many years of experience. Having numerous educators allows for a flexible teaching schedule.

On the average, first aid classes of this kind generally run around $40-$45 per person. Any donations or fees to Charlotte Court House Fire and Rescue are considered charitable donations and would be tax-deductible.
