In the August 9 Charlotte Board meeting Scot Shippee from VDOT announced a traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Highways 360 and 47 at Crafton’s Gate.
Shippee told the board that VDOT had “put together a roadway safety assessment to take one more look to see what is going to be the best solution for everybody” regarding the accident problem at Crafton’s Gate.
The Group included VDOT, The Charlotte County Board, Virginia State Police, Charlotte County Highway Committee and the Commonwealth Regional Council.
The result was a two-tier recommendation. First will be the installation of the traffic signal. This will be followed by eventually rerouting traffic with all east bound traffic on Highway 47 turning right onto 360. A U-turn will be required for traffic going Keysville or Chase City. This phase will remove the option of crossing the median at the intersection.
