Charges Pending in Alleged Animal Cruelty Case

15 Cats Tested Positive for Feline Leukemia, AIDS

Victoria Walker of Crewe is now facing charges for animal cruelty after the Crewe Police Department executed a search warrant on February 3rd at her 305 Curtis Street residence, based on concerns of animal cruelty from neighbors.

According to a press release from the Crewe Police Department, “The search warrant reflected concerns from neighbors of inadequate shelter and lack of emergency veterinary care. Once inside the residence, officers were met with equal concerns of the animals’ health and welfare inside the residence. As a result, twenty cats and one dog were taken from the home.”

The Richmond SPCA has aided in finding the animals new homes. However, only five of the cats were able to be transported for adoption after the other fifteen tested positive for Feline Leukemia/Aids by SPCA staff. “The remaining 15 cats were taken to two local veterinary clinics where they were examined by a vet.”

Currently, the Crewe Station is helping to raise donations towards the vet bill and for future care of the dog taken. If anyone would like to make a monetary donation, please do so at the Crewe Police Department.
