Chargers Take 3 of 4 in Late Season Run

Chargers take 1 Chargers take 2 Chargers take 3VICTORIA – After struggling to get wins early on this season, the Central Chargers Varsity boys basketball team has been on a roll of late with three wins in four games down the stretch. This winning streak helps Central as the team is moving toward the end of the regular season and heading to the playoffs.

Central got a big win on the road at Amelia to kick off the winning streak. The Chargers grabbed an early lead and used a big night from Darryl Jones to claim a 70-47 victory. Jones led all scorers with 28 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double effort. LJ Watson added 18 points on the night while Ethan Hoover also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Central traveled to Prince Edward in their next contest and took their only loss out of the last four in a 50-45 game. Central got 16 points from Watson and 10 each from Jones and Hoover.

The Chargers got back on the winning track with a big 70-61 win over Cumberland last week. The game is a match-up of 1A Region B teams and Central used a strong second half to come up with the big win. The same trio came up big for the Chargers again as Jones led Central in scoring with 25 points, Watson added 19 and Hoover had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The final victory came last Friday night on “Senior Night” when the Chargers beat Amelia for the second time in a 58-50 final.

Central got a career night from Watson who scored 33 points in the contest, while Jones was the second leading scorer with 10 points. Hoover had another strong all around game as he had 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks.
