Chargers beat Carver before Dropping road game at Mathews

The Central Chargers Basketball season came to an end last week after an opening round Conference 42 win over Carver Academy and a second round loss on the road at Mathews.

P--Chargers beat CarverThe Chargers were the #3 overall seed after a strong regular season in the James River District and hosted Carver last week to open their postseason schedule. Central would get off to a great start as they opened the game on an 11-0 run with Jerimiah Davis and Raymond Alexander both collecting 4 early points and dominating play inside. Central would end the first quarter with a  16-7 lead.

The second quarter would be more of the same as Alexander and Davis combined for 14 points, while LJ Watson added 3 more to give Central a 33-13 halftime lead.

Central would get lots of players in the game in the second half as Datrail Barnes got in the scoring column along with Brandon Scott. The fourth quarter would see Drew Howard add 6 points while Tylik Thomas scored 3. The Chargers would run away to a 67-42 win.

Raymond Alexander led the team in scoring with 21 points, while Jerimiah Davis added 15. Drew Howard scored 11 while LJ Watson scored 5. Brandon Scott had 4 on the night.

The Chargers would then take the long trip to Mathews where they took on the #2 seed Blue Devils. This would be a game dominated by defense early on as Central was able to hold a 22-21 lead at halftime.

Mathews would get their offense going in the third quarter as they grabbed a 38-30 lead and eventually went on to a 59-46 win over Central.
