Burkeville Road, Route 49 Intersection the Location of Another Accident

LUNENBURG – The intersection of Burkeville Road (Route 723) and Route 49 coming into Victoria continues to be the scene of a relatively high number accidents as a Chase City man was the latest to has issues near the intersection.

Stephen Layne, a 35-year-old Chase City man ran off the right side of the road on Route 723 before striking the stop sign at the intersection with Route 49. The Ford four door vehicle driven by Layne then proceeded through the intersection where it crossed over Route 49 before coming to a final stop.

The accident took place on May 25 at approximately 9:50 am and there were luckily no other vehicles involved in the wreck or traveling through that intersection at the time of the accident.

Layne was lucky to escape the wreck with no injuries but Investigating Virginia State Trooper J. T. McGhee did charge him with failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.
