Booker T. Washington Quote

Written by on November 21, 2019 at 11:49 am

“There is a certain class of ”race-problem solvers” who don’t want the patient to get well; because as long as the disease holds out, they have not only an easy means of making a living but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.”

The Huffington Post recently posted the following:

“Tucker Carlson’s Latest Racist Tirade”

Huff Post used two of Carlson’s quotes to document this “tirade.”

Carlson asked a guest on his show, “Isn’t crowding your country the fastest way to despoil it, to make it, you know, a place you wouldn’t want to live?”

Huff Post followed this quote with:

“The Fox News Pundit doubled down on his past xenophobic remarks about immigrants and migrants on his show Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Carlson was again quoted as saying, “If you care about the environment and I personally do. (I actually go outside once in a while.) Why would you want a crowded country?”

“They say we have a moral obligation to admit the poor even if it makes our own country poorer and dirtier and more divided.”

According to Huff Post this is “White Nationalist hate speech.”

The post ends with tweets from Carlson haters.

If Carlson’s quotes are a “racist tirade” something has happened to the definitions of racist and tirade.

IF this is xenophobia something has happened to that definition also.

If these are the worst quotes from Carlson’s recent career he sounds pretty mild to me.  If these are examples of “White Nationalist” hate speech and xenophobia I’d think our country is pretty good on both counts.  What Huff Post seems to be saying is “If you disagree with us you are an evil bad person.”

If you want to see a real racist tirade go read or listen to some of Strom Thurmond’s speeches.  Thurmond opposed civil rights and impregnated (raped) a 16-year-old black servant when he was 22 and had a child. Theodore Bilbo (a democrat) wrote the most disturbing racist book you can imagine.

These are racists.  They wrote and spoke racist tirades.

Nothing I have seen or heard in the past twenty years can come close to Thurmond, Bilbo and
Byrd’s level of racism but apparently that doesn’t count.

Apparently nothing counts to “race-problem solvers” except as Booker T. Washington said, “they don’t want the patient to get well…”
