Big Hearts, Giving Spirits

What can you say about people who just keep on giving of themselves with no boundaries?

More than the three days a week the Tailwaggers Thrift store is open in Keysville, one can find Carol and Ted Conrad sorting and cleaning and displaying donated merchandise that is sold to benefit the animals at the Southside SPCA in Meherrin. They, along with a handful of other volunteers, are all too well aware that those clothes and books and kitchen items don’t jump on the shelves all by themselves. It takes lots of dedication and many, many hours to present it all to the public.

The story of the Conrad’s generosity doesn’t stop there. This Christmas season, Carol gathered and decorated twelve little trees. “I didn’t know she was going to do it,” Ted confided. And then came the day that she just loaded them all in their truck and they delivered them, one by one, to residents of Wayland Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.

Spreading joy – sharing – giving. That’s what it’s all about.
