Betty Elder St. John Obituary

Betty Elder St. John, 81, of Phenix passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late Lemuel William St. John.

Mrs. St. John was born in Campbell County, September 21, 1936, a daughter of the late Charlie Olover Elder and Flossie Foster Elder.  She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, William Glenn St. John (Cheryl) of Virginia Beach; one daughter, Lisa St. John Newcomb (A. E. III) of Phenix; four grandchildren, Will, Ian, and Sarah St. John, Jenna Newcomb; three sisters, Sterling Tuggle (Rufus), Joyce Crawley, and Mary Elder all of Lynchburg.  She was preceded in death by four sisters, Melba Elder, Nancy Clark, Katherine Spradlin, Phyllis Owen; one brother, Jack Elder.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Mike Teixeira.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Henderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Brookneal and at the residence other times.
