RH prom king and queenafterprom4 afterprom3 afterprom2 afterprom1CHARLOTTE COURT HOUSE – The Randolph-Henry After-Prom committee would like to extend their gratitude to the R-H staff, the community, and to the school board for the tremendous support of our annual event.  We received numerous donations from area churches, businesses, individuals, and organizations, which enabled us to add many new attractions this year. Students were treated to a DJ, a mechanical bull, sumo wrestling, a photo booth, casino card games, a bungee cord race game, human bowling, a Wii gaming station, face painting, bubble ball, corn hole, a caricature artist and a rock wall slide.  More than fifty prizes, such as a laptop computer, an Xbox One, tablets, TVs, and beats headphones were raffled off throughout the night. In addition, eight students were selected to participate in the RAYSAC car giveaway in Roanoke on June 4, where they will have the chance to win a 2017 Hyundai Elantra. Some students also walked away with cash after participating in the money-grab game.

While the after-prom party is supposed to be a fun time for students, it is important to remember its purpose. Providing students with a safe, alcohol-free place is a critical part of keeping the Charlotte County youth safe on prom night. As drugs and alcohol continue to take the lives of students across the nation, we are happy to report that one hundred and eleven students made the decision to stay on campus and participate in the Randolph-Henry After-Prom party this year. This is an increase from the eighty-seven that attended the previous year. We consider our efforts a success when we know that none of our students suffered fatalities on prom night.  Randolph-Henry’s After-Prom committee hopes that attendance will continue to increase each year and that our students will always “arrive alive” after prom. Thank you for your continued support in helping to make a difference in the lives of our Statesmen family.
