56-Year-Old Lunenburg Man Convicted of Selling Drugs

LUNENBURG CO. – Joseph Ray Hendricks, a 56-year-old Lunenburg County resident of Varick Chapel Road, was sentenced to an active sentence of seven months in jail recently in Lunenburg Circuit Court upon pleading guilty to one felony drug charge of Distribution of Cocaine. He had an additional eight years and five months suspended upon numerous conditions.

According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, the local narcotics task force worked an undercover operation on February 10, 2014 and purchased $100 worth of cocaine from Hendricks.  He said the active sentence is within the range of the Sentencing Guidelines, and that Hendricks’ medical issues were taken into account.  He is to report to Piedmont Regional Jail on November 6th after he receives certain medical treatment before becoming the responsibility of the jail.

Hendricks’ additional time is suspended upon conditions of good behavior, supervised probation upon his release for one year, warrantless searches and seizures, counseling, and restitution of $200.
