KENBRIDGE – A nine-year-old student from Kenbridge Elementary School is hoping that her hard work can help people in the area by cutting their yards or cleaning up for free.

Jessica Phillips said that her daughter Jacey is an “outdoor kid’ and the Lunenburg resident obviously has a big heart when it comes to helping others. Jacey recently accepted a challenge of cutting lawns for free to help people who need it or just to show her appreciation toward them. The “50 Yard Challenge” was created by a gentleman named Rodney Smith, Jr. from Huntsville, Alabama. He has a lawn care service named Raising Men Lawn Care, but females and males both participate in this project.

Jacey found out about the idea and signed up. Her mom noted that “she has always been a kid that loves to just do stuff for people.” She has previously done such things as decorating neighbors’ mailboxes ats Christmas to bring them “Holiday Cheer.”

She is cutting yards for people who are considered elderly, single parents who may have time struggles, the disabled and veterans.

Jacey is planning to get the journey going after getting a donated push mower from her grandfather, Pete Crowder, to help with the efforts.  She is hoping to get “help from our community” to get candidates for this challenge.

Jessica and Jacey stated, “If you believe you know of someone please contact us through Facebook Messenger.” Additionally if you have Jessica’s number she encourages anyone to text or call.

They stated, “We look forward to being able to do something so small that could be so big. We also look forward to the learning experience this will be for Jacey. Thank you all!”

Anyone interested in helping can find “Jacey’s 50 Yard Challenge” on Facebook. Jacey is the daughter of Jessica and Chris Phillips.
