Cretins Destroying Commerce

It seems like every day the Cretins Destroying Commerce (aka the CDC) is passing new recommendations and mandates that restrict commerce.  It seems to me that the CDC has excelled in Destroying Commerce and should receive a commendation.

Carbon Free

We should certainly attempt to reduce our carbon emissions and protect our Earth. BUT these attempts must actually reduce carbon not just make us feel good by pretending to do so.

Suppose I buy a totally electric car. Will it help with my carbon emissions? The actual answer is NO. A BIG FAT NO.  The fact is that when you take into account the amount of carbon emissions caused in the building of the electric car you will have to drive it over 350,000 miles (without replacing the battery) just to equal the carbon emissions of a gasoline car.

Then when you take into account that over 60 percent of electricity in America is produced by fossil fuels and that only 20 percent is generated by renewable sources the result gets worse.

You simply cannot drive that electric car enough miles to cover the CO2 emissions building it and the battery is responsible for.

Then when you consider that CO2 emissions are a global issue, it doesn’t help the environment if America reduces CO2 and other countries increase theirs.  Between India and China they are building an average of one coal fired power plant each week.

There are 3400 fossil fuel power plants in the United States.  China and India are building them faster than the U.S. is closing them. More importantly we are closing them faster than we are building renewable energy sources to replace them.

The average American household produces 7.5 tons of CO2 per year.  Three metric tons of CO2 per person is considered sustainable emissions.

One acre of forest collects ten to forty tons of CO2 per year.  The simple solution to CO2 is to require every person who is responsible for CO2 emissions to buy and maintain sufficient forest to offset their emissions.

Even sending an email produces CO2 emissions.

Carbon footprint?

Sending 65 emails is roughly equivalent to driving 1km in a car. In a year, an average person in the developed world adds 136kg of CO2 to their carbon footprint from the emails they send and receive. This is equivalent to an extra 320km driven in a car.

Follow the Law

In the news today a judge has responded to former President Trump’s request for the return of personal items and items not included in the search warrant.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon said on Tuesday she received the motion, but that she wanted another filing that elaborated on the case.

The judge said, “To facilitate appropriate resolution, on or before August 26, 2022, plaintiff shall file a supplement to the motion further elaborating on the following: (1) the asserted basis for the exercise of this court’s jurisdiction, whether legal, equitable/anomalous, or both; (2) the framework applicable to the exercise of such jurisdiction; (3) the precise relief sought, including any request for injunctive relief pending resolution of the motion; (4) the effect, if any, of the proceeding before Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart; and (5) the status of plaintiff’s efforts to perfect service on defendant.”

I don’t understand.  If anything not included in the warrant was taken it should be returned.  Trump shouldn’t have even had to ask.

“We need an impartial—that means not Republican, not Democrat—impartial special master to go in there, take a look at what they seized, give back to the former president what is rightfully his, things that are clearly declassified, things that are also privileged—attorney-client privilege from when he was in the White House—things that should have never been seized,” said Alina Habba, a Trump lawyer, on Fox News.

How can Trump be expected to respond with more information when he hasn’t even been given a list of what was taken?

If the FBI is investigating to determine if Trump broke the law, shouldn’t they have followed the laws in the investigation?

Student Loan Forgiveness

Supposedly President Biden is going to announce student loan forgiveness soon. This is one of the most incredibly blatant attempts to buy votes in American history. It is also incredibly stupid and unfair.

Apparently Biden believes those who are complaining about student debt are more likely to vote Democrat.

Some students borrowed money for college and promised to pay it back presumably with the increased earnings gained from having a college degree. Now they are whining about paying it back.  Didn’t they learn anything in college?

The average student loan debt in America is just under $30,000.

What about the person who decided to start a business instead of going to college?  What if a person decided not to attend college and instead borrowed $30,000 to start a business?  That person has been paying taxes for an extra four years, has bought tools and equipment, possibly has employed other people and is paying a higher interest rate than student loans.

What about the person who paid for college by working their way through?

What about the person whose parents saved and paid for their college?

What about the person who (through hard work and ability) received scholarships?

Why should they and other working people be forced to subsidize college for other people?

Why should an over-the-road trucker be forced to subsidize someone’s law degree, medical degree or Gender Studies degree?

If you chose a college major that didn’t increase your earning ability you made a poor decision.

Why should the rest of us pay for your mistake?
