Clarence Adams Hamlett, Jr. Obituary

Clarence Adams Hamlett, Jr., age 90, went to heaven on Monday, August 1, 2022. He was born March 8, 1932, to Clarence Adams Hamlett, Sr., and Elsie Enoch Hamlett of Charlotte County. He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Deppen of Drakes Branch and Kathy Schieber of Metro Atlanta, Georgia, and five grandchildren, Quinn Schieber and Indiana Schieber of Metro Atlanta, Georgia, Michaela Deppen and Noël Deppen of Drakes Branch, and Abigail Deppen of Williamsburg, Virginia. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Denton Bennett of Chinquapin, North Carolina, and Mildred H. Richardson of Pamplin, Virginia. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lona H. Francis and Hazel H. Seamster, and one brother, Willie Hamlett.

Clarence was married to Marian Wade Hamlett for 58 years. Before Marian’s death a little less than two years ago, Clarence was devoted to taking care of her. Their marriage was a symbol of pure love and devotion.

During his lifetime, he was an active member of Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Drakes Branch and Drakes Branch Baptist Church. In the past, he served as a deacon at Drakes Branch Baptist Church.

Clarence worked for many years as Town Sergeant of Drakes Branch, which also included managing water and sewer for the town. After retiring from that job, he later served on Drakes Branch Town Council at various times. He was a member of Drakes Branch Town Council at the time of his death. Clarence was devoted to the Town of Drakes Branch and helping the community in any way he could. He gave selflessly of his time and energy.

Clarence was also devoted to his family. He was a rock who everyone could depend on. He loved his family very much and was so proud of all his grandchildren.

He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and especially riding his lawn mower.

The family wishes to thank members of Drakes Branch Baptist Church and the community for all their acts of kindness.
