Willadean Ellis Obituary

ellis obitWilladean Ellis was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina April 27, 1942 and raised by her mother Marie Fair, and George Keitt.  They moved to Connecticut where she received her education in Stamford, Connecticut.  She moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut and worked at GE for a number of years as an Electronic Assembler until 2003. She retired and moved to Kenbridge, Virginia and traveled the United States with her husband for 14 years.

She was always carefree and was a devoted lover of gospel music and an advent Christian who loved her God.

Willadean loved to sing with her gospel group, “The Bells,” and the gospel choir at West End Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  She also enjoyed elephants.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lee Shuler; three sisters, Rosa Fersner, Mary B. Johnson and Georgia Lee Keitt.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Wilbur Ellis, Jr.; two sons, Glenn Keitt and David Hawkins both of Bridgeport, Connecticut; one brother, Thurman (Johnnie) Keitt of Stamford, Connecticut; four sisters, Betty (Thomas) James of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Maybelle (Eddie) Clayborne of Stamford, Connecticut, Darlene Shuler (Anthony) Arnett of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and Charlene B. (Steve) Spain of Bridgeport, Connecticut; eleven grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family and friends.

Services were held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at West End Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church,  265 Colorado Avenue, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06605, with Pastor Alfred W. Jones, III officiating. Interment was at Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley Street, Bridgeport, Connecticut 06606.

Professional services were rendered by S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home, North Broad Street in Kenbridge, and Morton’s Mortuary, Inc., Bridgeport, Connecticut.
