logo- government grumblingsVoting is our most important right. Some of us would vote if we had to walk to the polls. I understand all of the reasons people claim an ID shouldn’t be required to vote BUT if that is valid why should we have to provide an ID to exercise less important rights.

You can’t buy a beer without an ID.

You can’t buy a plug of tobacco without an ID.

You can’t see a doctor without an ID.

You need an ID to open a bank account, apply for a job or get a credit card.

You need an ID to file for unemployment, apply for welfare or Medicaid, and food stamps.

You need an ID to apply for Social Security

You need an ID to buy a home, apply for a mortgage, or rent a home.

You need an ID to drive a car, buy a car, or even rent a car.

You need an ID to get on an airplane, to get married, and you need one to check into a hotel room for your honeymoon.

You need an ID to buy a gun or get a hunting or fishing license.

You need an ID to pick up a prescription, you need an ID to buy certain kinds of cold medicine, and you need an ID to donate blood.

You need an ID to spend your money in a casino or on lottery tickets.

You need an ID to buy or rent adult entertainment.

You need an ID to buy a cell phone or apply for a coverage plan.

In addition to the ID you also are subject to a background check for many things.

We just need to get our priorities right.
