wee Notes to the Wise

I just keep coming across the most interesting, uplifting, encouraging, and informational tidbits.  I hope you enjoy them and that you find ways to pass some of them along to those you care about.

logo-wee-notesMy favorite young man, Colton, my handsome, 22-year-old grandson got married Saturday, April 11th, to his best friend, Emily Jean. I sent them several timely tidbits.  Among others were these gems:  “Marriage is a gift. It should be opened up and enjoyed. ~Greg Evans “Marriage is a gift of love you give to your spouse every day, with a never-ending promise that you’ll walk side-by-side.” ~Darlene Schacht  “Once in a while, right in the middle of ordinary life, love gives us a Fairy Tale.” ~unknown

On a more lighthearted note:  “Where you see one set of footprints is where I carried you…that long groove is where I dragged you kicking and screaming.” I must admit there are likely several grooves along my trail (Thankfully!) “I’m not fat, I’m just so freakin’ happy it overflows,” and, “I wish there was a way to donate FAT like you can donate blood. ~Fb.com/MinionQuote “You don’t have to be skinny to be beautiful… beauty is the size of your heart, not the size of your jeans.” ~Shut Up I’m Still Talking. THERE are a few positive ways of looking at things!

Keep smiling:  “I’m losing my mind, but I figure as long as I keep the part that tells me when I gotta ‘go’, I should be okay!” ~Fb.com/MinionQuote. “Every journey begins with a single ‘hop’” ~Kermit the Frog “If God shuts a door, quit banging on it! Whatever was behind it wasn’t meant for you. Consider the fact that maybe He closed that door because He knew you were worth so much more.” ~Fb.com/MinionQuote

Notes for Parents:  “A child who reads will be an adult who thinks.” ~Spirit Science “Did you know that our brains are not able to learn when emotions are high? We are most effective as parents when we show empathy and allow children a chance to calm down before dealing with the problem.” ~Sarina Behar Natkin, LICSW “You can’t fix yourself by breaking someone else”. ~Missing Moments “No one is you and that is your power.” ~Dave Grohl “Still the most magical day of my life was the day I became a mom.” ~Linda Becker

More for Parents:  “Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.” ~Mathew L. Jacobson “I never knew how much love my heart could hold until someone called me mommy.” ~Heather A. Stillufsen “Life is short, live it.  Love is rare, grab it.  Anger is bad, dump it.  Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish them.” ~unknown “Give, but don’t allow yourself to be used.  Love, but don’t allow your heart to be abused. Trust, but don’t be naïve.  Listen to others, but don’t lose your own voice.” ~unknown

This last one is dedicated to my favorite (and only) g-boys, Colton and Peter:  “You have made my world a little kinder, a little softer, and a little warmer.” ~facebook.com/GrndparentsandGrandkids.  Happy gentle parenting!
