VSP Investigates Fatal Crash in Campbell County

Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash Monday (Sept. 2, 2013) in Campbell County. The crash occurred at 10:55 p.m. in the 3100 block of Red Oak School Road/Route 604, one mile east of Route 648.

A Ford F150 pickup truck was westbound on Route 604 when it ran off the right side of the road. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway and ran off the left side of the road, where it struck the ditch and then a tree. The driver, Lucas J. Pack, 23, of Rustburg, Va., was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle.

Pack died at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
