VPD Finds Driver Involved in Hit and Run at Stoplight

vpd-finds-driver-1VICTORIA – Victoria Police Department continues to investigate a hit and run incident along Main Street in Victoria on Monday afternoon.

The incident took place around 1:30 p.m. at the stoplight in town and involved a 2003 Ford Focus and a second vehicle that was identified as a Honda Civic.

Betty Moize, of Victoria, was at the stoplight when it turned green, but a pedestrian was crossing the road at that same time. The Honda Civic was behind Moize and rear-ended her vehicle.

The driver of the Honda Civic then went around Moize and left the scene of the accident.

Victoria Police Chief Keith Phillips responded to the wreck to investigate. Also responding to the scene was Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Deputy Peter Dayton.

After interviewing witnesses and speaking with Moize, Chief Phillips was able to identify the vehicle and driver that left the scene. The vehicle was owned by Amy Lee of Trailer Park Road in Victoria and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Ricky Watson.

Chief Phillips said that several charges are pending as a result of the accident and the driver leaving the scene of the wreck.

Victoria Fire and Rescue was also dispatched to the location, but there were no injuries sustained in the accident.
