Virginia Whitlow Carwile Obituary

Virginia Whitlow Carwile, age 94, of Madisonville, Virginia went home to her Lord and Savior on March 29, 2016.  She was born February 23, 1922, to Henry Edward and Katherleen Zelle Blanton Whitlow.  Virginia was educated in Charlotte County and was a member of the first graduating class at Randolph-Henry High School in 1940.  She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for the family farm in Madisonville.  She retired as a school bus driver after 28 years for Charlotte County in the Red House area where she spent many years of her youth.  Virginia also maintained a successful farm produce business at the city market in Lynchburg for many years.  She was a charter member of Appomattox Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in many capacities with her husband for over 50 years.

She is survived by four children, Cynthia C. Jones (Kurtis), Henry W. Carwile, Jr. (Augusta), Thomas Duane Carwile, James Edward Carwile; five grandchildren, Tracey C. Boyer (Ben), Kendall C. Ovalle (Tomas), Seth W. Carwile (Lauren), Alan K. Jones (Misty), Karen B. Jones (Jeremy); five great-grandchildren, Caden, Lynden, and Liam Hottle, A.J. Jones, and Kristina McCloud.  Also surviving are one sister Evelyn W. Marshall of Lynchburg; three sisters-in-law Mary (Dixie) W. Whitlow of Alton, Trudy G. Whitlow of Annandale, and Verna Carwile Harris of Wakefield; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Henry W. Carwile, an infant daughter and son, her parents, and ten siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2nd, at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family thanks friends and neighbors and the WMU of Spring Creek who visited, sent cards, and most importantly lifted her up in prayer over the years.  Thanks are extended also to Allen, Michelle, and Rebecca Yoder of Yoder’s Senior Care and the Centra Hospice nurses, aides, and volunteers who have cared for her so lovingly over the last two years.
