Virginia Irene Dean Wilkins-Zitta

Virginia Irene Dean Wilkins-Zitta, 82, of Charlotte Court House, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. She was born on October 23, 1932 in Cana, NC to the late James H. and Rosa Easter Dean.

Mrs. Wilkins-Zitta was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and loved many activities. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed telling “fish tales.” She worked diligently in her gardens and enjoyed cooking and sewing for family and friends. She treated all the local kids like they were her own and was very loved by her community.

She is survived by her husband, David; children, Joseph R. Wilkins of Brookneal, Jeffrey Scott Wilkins (Alison) of Powhatan, Janet Alvarez (Esteban) of Boca Raton, FL, Anna Wilson (Leslie) of Gloucester, and Lorrie Barron (David) of Charlotte CH; a sister, Luzetta Dodson of Gum Spring; 14 grandchildren, Dave, Chris, Jody, Jessi, Jenna, Josh, Leslie Ann, Brian, Laura, James, Amy, Kyle, Jeffrey, and Jordan; 17 great-grandchildren, Virginia, Elizabeth, James, Christopher, Douglas, Arik, Grace, Haden, Ty, Josh, Amber, Jake, Alyssa, Hunter, Taylor, Robbie, and Jordan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman Wilkins, a son, Glenn Wilkins, sisters, Sadie Johnson, Iva Reinhardt, Ann Driskill, Alisa Dean, and brothers, James H. Dean Jr. and Glenn Dean.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 18 at 11 a.m. in Eureka Baptist Church, Keysville, interment followed in the church cemetery.

Family received friends on Wednesday, December 17 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.
