VFW Recognizes Teacher Award Winners

LUNENBURG – The Veterans of Foreign Wars 4^th District recently announced winners and awards to teachers from the community. The 4^th District includes the counties of Lunenburg, Nottoway, Prince Edward, Mecklenburg, Buckingham, Amelia, Charlotte and Appomattox. VFW 9954 is the local post in Lunenburg County.

Among the teachers recognized from Lunenburg were Charlene Baldwin Zhe who received a Citizenship Education Award for promoting citizenship education and the patriotic principles of the VFW. She is an elementary school teacher at Victoria Elementary School.

Kenbridge Elementary School teacher Amber Britt also was recognized by the organization and has been awarded third place in the VFW Teacher of the Year competition for the 4th district.
