VA Treasury Holding 2014 Tangible Property Auction

Preview Will Be Held Thursday, April 24

The Virginia Department of the Treasury is pleased to announce the 2014 Tangible Property Auction is currently underway. Featuring a wide selection of unclaimed items ranging from musical instruments and electronics to jewelry, coins and collectibles, the auction consists of unclaimed property from throughout Virginia and all items are open to bidding.

The 2014 Tangible Property Auction is hosted on www.ebidlocal.com under the heading “VA Treasury Dept. Unclaimed Property Auction Online.” All bidding is done online at this website. Users must register with the site in order to bid and are advised to follow all registration and bidding instructions carefully, as on-site pickup by the winning bidder or a designated shipping company must be arranged for all items. All items are auctioned “As-is/Where-Is.”

A free on-site preview day will be held on April 24, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Bidders and media are welcome to attend the event for a first-hand look at all of the items up for auction. The on-site preview will take place in the C, D, and E conference rooms on the first floor of the James Monroe Building at 101 North 14th Street in Richmond, Va.

The 2014 Tangible Property Auction is put on by the Virginia Department of the Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Program. In fiscal year 2013, the Program returned nearly $29 million in missing and unclaimed money directly to Virginia citizens. Currently, one in four Virginians is estimated to have unclaimed property and more than $1.5 billion is waiting to be claimed and will be held in perpetuity for the rightful owners.
