LUNENBURG – This coming Tuesday is Election Day and while Lunenburg does not have but one opposed race, it is still important to come out and support the candidates. Election day for 2015 is set for November 3rd and polls will be opening at 6:00 a.m. and closing at 7:00 p.m. When the polls close, officials working the locations will make a list of names of those in line to assure they will be permitted to vote

Lunenburg County Registrar Carolyn Parsons says that Lunenburg will have eight different ballots this year and five split precints. With the county having some citizens voting for the 61st House race between Tommy Wright and Greg Marston as well as some voting for the 75th House seat where Roslyn Tyler is running unopposed, it causes there to be several different ballots. In addition to that, there are different district candidtates for the Board of Supervisors and School Board.

A few things to remember before heading to the polls this year are to be sure that you are a registered voter and know ahead of time where you should be voting. At times there has been some confusion as to where everyone is supposed to be casting ballots and voters will show up at the wrong location.

Voters should also bring the proper forms of identification to the polls with you. That can include a Virginia Driver’s License, DMV issued photo identification card, United States Passport, valid employee photo identification card, government-issued photo identification card, or a valid college or university student I.D. card from a Virginia institution of higher education.

On the ballot this year:

61st District House—Tommy Wright, Greg Marston

75th District House—Roslyn Tyler (unopposed)

Board of Supervisors—Edward Pennington, Randy Slayton, Alvester Edmonds, David Wingold (All candidates are unopposed.)

School Board—Elizabeth Williams, Ada Whitehead, Kathy Coffee, Doug Aubel (All candidates are unopposed.)

Consititutional Officers—Sheriff Arthur Townsend, Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement, Clerk of the Court Gordon Erby, Commissioner of the Revenue Liz Hamlett, Treasurer Amona Currin, Soil and Water Director Mark Palmer. (All candidates are unopposed.)
