Trump, Hillary, Biden et al may save America

logo- government grumblingsEven an idiot knows that a U-turn on a busy road is stupid. With the death of Justice Scalia, both political parties are making U-turns. Years ago when a similar situation occurred Joe Biden and many other democrats objected to the current president making an appointment. The republicans disagreed.

Now we have democrats coming from the left and republicans coming from the right and BOTH are attempting to make a U-turn.

Whatever happened to taking a stand on principle and keeping that stand even when it isn’t in your favor?

The same thing happens every time redistricting is required. According to our politicians, “What was wrong last time is right and what was right last time is wrong.” Just ask anyone involved.

Is it too much to ask for a little consistency from our elected officials?

On another topic I am excited about the upcoming election. I am hoping it will save America. All of the major party front-runners would be unelectable if the other party wasn’t supporting an unelectable candidate. One of these losers will win and America and the American people will suffer.

The positive side is that many of us who are independent will vote for a third party candidate. At this point any candidate who doesn’t cause me to gag is preferable to Sanders, Hillary Clinton or Trump.

This could cause an increase in third party power which will dilute Republican and Democrat strength and force them to negotiate with the third party in order to function, and that sounds good to me.

By tomorrow I will have received several irate phone calls from Hillary and Trump supporters. Although I welcome your calls and letters (which I will publish) my answer is going to be, “I don’t understand. You claim to like (your candidate) because he or she speaks his or her mind. Why are you objecting to me speaking my mind?  Let’s try to avoid those ugly dangerous U-turns.”
