For the first time ever the Truckers Parade Against Cancer will begin in Charlotte Court House. Trucks will be lined up in the parking lots of Randolph-Henry High School and Central Middle School as well as along Statesmen Drive. The parade will begin at 3:30 p.m. when the trucks will pull out of Statesmen Drive onto Hwy. 40 (David Bruce Ave.) and continue on David Bruce Avenue until it makes a right turn onto Hwy. 47 (LeGrande Ave.) following Hwy. 47 into the town of Drakes Branch. The parade will then turn left onto Hwy. 59 where it will travel to the town of Keysville. At the intersection of highways 59 & 40, trucks will turn right and follow Hwy. 40 Business down King Street, bearing left onto Lunenburg Highway and continue to the end of the parade at the John H. Daniel Campus of SVCC.

Truck drivers are asked to enter the parade lineup by turning onto Statesmen Drive from Hwy. 47 (LeGrande Ave.)  Signs will be posted for truck parking and volunteers will be assisting in parking.  There will be lunch and activities for young and old including a silent auction and live auction for the sponsors and participants at Central Middle School. Lunch will be held inside the cafeteria and the auctions will take place in the gym.

There are plenty of great places to view the nearly 15-mile parade along the route. Phenix residents are invited to view the parade from the lawn of the Administration Office in Charlotte Court House.  Preliminary weather reports are predicting a partly cloudy day with highs in the 80’s. After the rain of last year’s Hurricane Matthew, this will be a treat!
