Tractor Trailer Wreck Remains Under Investigation

PRINCE EDWARD – Virginia State Police Trooper B.J. Hylton is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Prince Edward County. The crash occurred June 16, 2016, at 3:56 p.m., on Route 460, less than a mile east of Route 627.

A tractor-trailer was traveling east on Route 460 when it ran off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to cross back over the eastbound lanes, run off the left side of Route 460, strike a tree, and jackknife in the median.

 The driver of the tractor-trailer, George B. Alston, 60, of Bowie, Md., was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. He was charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

 The crash remains under investigation.
