Thief Gets Four Years for Burglaries

 Robert Ray Davis, a 43-year-old North Carolina man, went on a larceny crime spree in the spring of 2013, burglarizing and stealing from residences in Lunenburg, Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties.  Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement said Davis was captured in North Carolina earlier this year, confessed to the crimes and was sentenced in Lunenburg and Mecklenburg to an active sentence of four years, two months, with an additional 33 years of suspended time.

Robert Ray Davis  (B&E, GL) 6-16-15Clement said that on May 31, 2013, a break-in and theft were reported on Bacon Fork Road in Lunenburg County.  Jewelry was taken worth more than around $12,000.

On July 3, 2013 Investigator Michael Landry of the Lunenburg Sheriff’s Office recovered a valuable and easily identifiable tennis bracelet from a pawn shop in Burlington, NC.   Davis was identified by the documents he provided the pawn shop.

Conditions of Davis’s suspended portion of his sentence include good behavior, supervised probation upon his release, counseling, no contact and staying off the property of the victims, restitution of $2,846.33 to the victims and $3,820.57 to Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Company, staying out of Lunenburg County upon his release, and warrantless searches.
