Thief Gets Almost Two Years

Jonathan Allen Settle, an 18-year-old Kenbridge man, was recently sentenced to one year and 11 months in jail for burglarizing and stealing from three residences on Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue in Kenbridge.

Jonathon Settle  (B&E, GL) 6-16-15Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Clement praised the Kenbridge Police Department for fine work in solving the crimes which also involved two juveniles who were prosecuted in the Juvenile Court.  Items stolen included a .357 magnum handgun which was recovered after it was sold to local man, a safe with savings bonds, two bottles of hydrocodone pills, and beer and cuts of meat from a freezer. One of the three residences was broken into twice. Entrance was gained by breaking a sliding glass door, a basement window, and a garage door.

Settle’s convictions include four counts of burglary, one count of felony Larceny of a Firearm, and one count of Grand Larceny.

Conditions of Settle’s suspended portion of his remaining 28-year, one month sentence include good behavior, supervised probation upon his release, counseling, no contact and staying off the property of the victims, restitution of $2,498.25 to the victims, and warrantless searches.
