The Southside Messenger Begins 14th Year of Service to Southside

On June 4, 2004 the first edition of The Southside Messenger was published. Every year since The Messenger has grown in every way.  We have increased our number of pages, number of sales outlets, number of vending racks, number of subscribers and total sales.

In an industry plagued by declining sales The Messenger is one of the few (if not the only) newspaper that continues to grow adding new subscribers and customers weekly.

The Messenger attributes our success to our readers and to our supporters who call with news tips.

Thanks for helping us grow.

In these days of “nobody reads a newspaper any more,” The Southside Messenger finds itself celebrating its thirteenth birthday. Over the years, a few faces have changed in the office and some job descriptions have been rewritten, but the newspaper that some folks said would never last remains at home in Keysville, staying true to its dedication to bring the most news to Southside Virginia. The e-edition that was added, eclipsing other local papers, makes the Messenger available to folks everywhere.

June 5, 2017 saw the beginning of its fourteenth year…Happy Birthday, Messenger!
