giuriceoFARMVILLE – Brianna F. Giuriceo, 18, of Farmville, Va. was killed on Thursday, August 17 when the vehicle she was riding in ran off the road and struck a tree.

According to Virginia State Police, the single vehicle accident occurred around 1:49 p.m. in the 3300 block of Abilene Road in Prince Edward County.

The 2004 Honda, driven by Gavin A. Lozano, 20, of Farmville, was traveling east on Abilene Road when it ran off the right side of the road. Lozano overcorrected the vehicle, which caused the Honda to run off the right side a second time and then strike a tree.

Lozano was flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was released over the weekend.

Giuriceo died at the scene. Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash and Lozano has been charged with reckless driving.

Giuriceo was a 2017 graduate of Prince Edward County High School as well as Miss Five County Fair 2016. She was active in high school, participating in cheerleading, band and a host of other activities. Giuriceo was set to begin her freshman year at Mary Baldwin University this week.
