Teen Charged With Reckless Driving

PRINCE EDWARD – At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 24, Trooper A.S. Trombley responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Route 15 (Farmville Road) near Route 790 in Prince Edward County.

A 2008 Kia Sorento, driven by a 17-year-old Cumberland resident was traveling south bound when he lost control and veered into the north bound Lane. The driver spun around in the north bound Land causing a 2002 PT Cruiser to strike the rear of the Kia.

Both the 17-year-old driver and a teen passenger were transported to Centra Southside Hospital with serious injuries. Neither the driver nor passenger were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the 2002 PT Cruiser, Rutillia M. Martinez, 47, of Keysville, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The 17-year-old driver has been charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain control and two counts of not wearing a seat belt.
