PECHS Students Participate in National College Signing Day

FARMVILLE – Student interns from the Longwood College University Department of Social Work, in conjunction with the Prince Edward County High School Counseling Department, organized and facilitated the National College Signing Day event at PECHS on April 26. The “Reach Higher” initiative is First Lady Michelle Obama’s effort to inspire every student in America to take charge of their future by completing their education past high school, whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university.  Longwood students Courtney McFadden, Christina Hogan, Dana Diamond, Summer Norton, and Maggie Marshall ensured that Prince Edward County High School students were able to take part in this event, along with thousands of other high school seniors across the United States. National College Signing Day is described on the White House website as “a tradition to celebrate students going to college the same way we celebrate athletes and celebrities.”
