Statesmen Down Goochland to Remain on Top of the District

The Randolph-Henry Statesmen Varsity Baseball team picked up a big win last Friday night that keeps them on top of the district race. R-H hosted Goochland and got a strong performance on the mound from Raleigh Duffer to claim a 6-3 win.

Duffer pitched 5 innings and recorded 10 strikeouts to get the victory on the mound, while several players had strong offensive games at the plate. Carter Strickland and Russell Schmidt both had two hits on the night, with Schmidt adding three RBI to lead the Statesmen. Josh Jones also added an RBI for R-H.

Goochland jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first, but R-H answered to take the lead in the third inning with a pair of runs. A fourth inning rally saw four runs score for the Statesmen and effectively put the game away.
