Statesmen boy’s soccer falls to Goochland, rebounds to beat Amelia

The Randolph-Henry Boy’s Soccer team traveled to Goochland recently to take on a strong Bulldogs squad.

P--RH Boys SoccerRandolph-Henry got off to a fast start as senior Josh Brown scored the first goal of the night in the 12th minute. The Statesmen continued to play strong defense and were able to keep the lead until a 25th minute Bulldog equalizer that brought the score back to 1-1 Goochland would add another late goal in the first half that  sent the RHHS boys to the locker room trailing 2-1.

After half time the Bulldogs came out with an aggressive offensive attack and were able to put away 3 additional goals to finish the game with a 5-1 victory.

Goalie John Walker had 16 saves. Defensive efforts from Jason Moorehead, Chris Nichols, Michael Nichols, Brycen Parnell, and Jonathan Boettcher helped with keeping the score low. Shane Maloney had several nice break-aways throughout the night to challenge their goalie with 3 shots, Caleb Chadwick had 2 shots on goal, and Chris Nichols also had a shot on goal.

The RHHS Boys’ Soccer team beat Amelia 4-1 recently. Goals were made by Josh Brown, Shane Maloney, Caleb Chadwick, and Chris Nichols. Assists were made by Shane Maloney and Noah Pinchefsky.  John Walker had 8 saves as goalie.
