State Police Continue Crash Investigation

A 30-year-old Charlotte County man remains in the hospital following a single-vehicle accident that occurred last Tuesday.

According to police reports, Matthew Coriell struck several parked trailers at Tharpe’s Trucking at 3113 Toll House Road in Drakes Branch.  Following the crash Coriell allegedly drove his vehicle from the scene and hid it and then walked to an apartment in Drakes Branch. Police found a wallet belonging to Coriell, which led them to his whereabouts.

Upon finding Coriell in the apartment with severe injuries, he was med-flighted to a nearby hospital.

The Virginia State Police are continuing to investigate this incident.
