Shoplifter Arrested After Street Patrol by KPD Officer

KENBRIDGE – A shoplifting incident at Dollar General in Kenbridge led to the arrest of Kimberly Cawthorne last Sunday. According to Officer Wayne Adkins, he was doing a routine street patrol through some area businesses around 2:30 pm when a clerk at the store alerted him that there may be shoplifting taking place at the location.

Officer Adkins was able to conduct an investigation and found evidence to arrest Cawthorne on section 18.2-195, Shoplifting.

Following the arrest, Officer Adkins also found out that the woman was wanted on additional charges in New Kent, Va.

Kenbridge Police Chief Raymond Hite said that his department is increasing their presence in local businesses and they are also currently investigation another possible shoplifting incident. He continued on to say that KPD will be continuing street patrols such as this and to help in protecting area businesses.
