FARMVILLE, VA – The Farmville Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a shooting offense that occurred in a parking lot in the 200 block of 4th Street, on June 10, 2015 at approximately 8:32 p.m. Over the course of the investigation it was determined that several subjects were involved in a fight at this location just prior to the shooting. There are indications that prior to the fight, the individuals had been involved in an ongoing disagreement and this was not a random act. During the fight, the suspect pulled a firearm and fired one round striking the victim in the arm. The suspect fled the scene and was apprehended by police in the 500 block of South Virginia Street shortly after the incident. The suspect, Junious Mottley, age 32 of Rice, Va., was charged with Malicious Wounding and incarcerated. The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The investigation is currently ongoing. Due to the proximity of the incident to Longwood University, a campus alert was sent out as precautionary information which is standard procedure. Police are currently investigating to determine if this incident is related to the May 26th, 2015 shooting incident in the 600 block of South Main Street. The Farmville Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Longwood Police Department, Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
