Shook Wants to Keep Charlotte Co. BOS Seat

butch ShookKEYSVILLE – R.L. “Butch” Shook, Jr. has announced that he will seek re-election to the Keysville District seat on the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors in November 2017. Butch is a 1968 graduate of Randolph-Henry High School. He served six years in the Army Reserves as a Drill Sergeant. He is a Charter Member of the Charlotte Lion’s Club where he received his 45-year service award in March of 2017. He volunteered 1O years on the Charlotte County Rescue Squad. He is a member of The American Legion Post #260 and the Honor Guard. He also received the J.T. Thompson Memorial award in 1998. Butch is a member of the Charlotte County Habitat Partnership. Currently, Butch is the owner and operator of Keysville Hardware & Farm Supply which will celebrate 25 years in business in 2018 . “After being elected in 2009 to the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors, I was appointed to the Crossroads Community Services Board, which provides mental health, intellectual disability, and substance abuse services. Also, I have been selected to serve on the Board of Supervisors’ Buildings and Grounds Committee and as chairman of the Courthouse Committee. As chairman of this committee, I will continue to work diligently to meet the requirements of the court system and do what is in the best interest of our citizens. I believe our new courthouse will be something we can be proud of and will meet our needs well into the future.” “Our children and their futures should be our number one priority; therefore, I support the Charlotte County School Board members in their efforts to meet the needs of our county ‘ s students. I believe Eureka Elementary School should remain open. Bacon District Elementary School and Phenix Elementary School should be upgraded at their current locations or consolidation could be considered . “ “Since being on the board I have tried to base my decisions on complete and accurate information and consider all the factors that will impact not only the present but also the future. I have tried to serve the people of Keysville and Charlotte County all of my adult life, and I pledge to continue to do what I can to improve this town, community, and county to the best of my ability.”
