Shine & Wine Festival Returns to  Chase City This Saturday

CHASE CITY – The second annual Shine & Wine Festival will be held this Saturday, September 24 at Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative’s Pavilion area, located at 11633 Highway 92, Chase City, from 12-6 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m.; this is a rain or shine event.

Shine & Wine is the only festival in Southside Virginia to have wine and distilled spirits, plus beer, all at one location, and taster ticket-holders are never disappointed. Taster-tickets are $25 at the gate and are available in advance for $20 by visiting www.chasecityevents.org; $15 non-taster tickets available also. Tasters must be 21-years-old to drink and ID must be presented at the gate. Tickets are non-refundable. Please, no pets, no coolers and no glass.

Tastings will be offered by American Way Country Wines, Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery, Silverback Distillery, Three Sisters of Shiney Rock Vineyard and Winery, Bondurant Brothers Distillery and Mattaponi Winery (Native American Indian Winery). While you’re there, stop and shop with these fine food and product vendors: Yerby’s Honey Farm, Birdie’s Pimento Cheese, Virginia Peanut Company, The Perking House Coffee Company, Light It Up Concessions, Leach Wood Works and Leach Iron Works.

As with last year’s event, live entertainment will be provided by the JB & the Get Down Brown’s Band throughout the afternoon. Seating is available, but event-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

New to this year’s event will be a Corn Hole Tournament, with a cash pay-out to the top two teams. Cost is $30/team or $15/each, prizes determined by number of entries, double elimination. Players are welcome to bring their own bags (scale will be available for weighing) or bags will be available for use.
