Seniors Honor Barnes with Tribute on CHS Gym Wall

VICTORIA – As the graduating class of 2016 at Central High School prepares for the graduation ceremony at the school on Saturday, a recent tragic event has left that group one shy.

An accident claimed the life of CHS senior Datrail Barnes back in March of this year and shocked and saddened students, family, and friends throughout the community.

The popular basketball and soccer player had many friends that have continued wearing shirts and bracelets with his picture on them in memory of their friend.

While Datrail will not physically be with the group on Saturday, his spirit and impact will still be there. His saying “Nothing larger than the heart of a Charger” has been the slogan for students over the past few months and that will be a part of the graduation ceremony as students recently painted a mural with his saying on the gymnasium wall where graduation will take place.
